Walking Across America

I have started walking, and I have a long way to go!

I decided to follow the Web walking across America program that I found on about.com. I haven't quite figured out the link thing yet... I apologize. But if you Google web walking across America and find about.com it shouldn't be too hard to find.

In this program you start at the East coast and walk all the way to the West virtually following the 5048 mile American Discivery Trail. It has a chart of how far each state is and you can look up where you would be if you were doing it in person. I guess many people actually do this. It would be an epic journey but who has that much time off? LOL

It gives you a few different options on how to log your progress. You can track actual miles, convert minutes to miles, count steps as miles or an adjusted mile. My husband said if I'm going to do, I might as well do it right. So I am logging mile for mile.

I printed this map and will mark off my progress as I make my way across.

You can find all the details on about.com

My April Walking Progress:
17 miles
I still have 28 miles to the first milestone.

  2. I like the idea of walking for a reason, but 5000 miles? I suppose there's no time constraint. Wonder if there's a similar one for the UK? :)
