A leason in stashing

I have always been a one at a time stitcher, therefore, not keeping much in stash except a nice variety of thread.  However, that is not to say that I don't have a wish list that's a mile long! About three years ago I came across a pattern that at once jumped to the top of my must have list. I knew that I didn't have time to stitch it so I just left it on the list.  A few weeks ago when I decided to get online and join a SAL for 2015 I decided that this would be the perfect time to work on this adorable baby.

Tabasco Baby Dragon by John R Wohland

I went online to order it from Paine Free Crafts only to discover it had been discontinued the MONTH before.  I can't believe that I missed having this by just one month! So while many of you are members of the Stitch From Stash group, I will be spending next year building up my stash. I have given myself a $25 a month budget but if I find something that just calls my name I will not feel bad about buying it. There are so many charts I want and I don't want to miss out on any of them. So, lesson learned: DO NOT wait to build your stash! If you really love it....buy it.

PS: If anyone has this chart or knows where I might be able to get it, please let me know. I really did cry when they told me it had been discontinued. I have been looking all over the web trying to find a used chart that someone might be willing to sell.

  1. I'm so sorry! He is cute. Good luck finding a copy. I've been cleaning out my stash because I have too much! But of course that doesn't stop me from buying new.

  2. Oh dear. :-( I'll keep an eye out for the pattern. I've been much like yourself until recently. There are patterns I know I won't have time to work on for quite awhile, but I'm afraid I won't be able to get them in the future if I don't buy them now.
